Kidnapper gunned down as security forces foil attack on Abuja estate
A suspected kidnapper has been killed at Army Post Service Housing Estate in Kurudu, within the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The incident occurred around 8:47pm on Thursday when a seven-member gang reportedly stormed the estate.
Sources said the attackers began firing indiscriminately shortly after gaining access to the premises, causing panic among residents.
The gunfire reportedly drew the attention of military personnel stationed at the estate’s entrance, who responded swiftly to the situation.
A resident, who reside close to the Army Estate, Michael Moses, said the military and operatives of the Kurudu police division engaged the kidnappers in a shootout, which led to the death of one of them.
According to him, the military and the police successfully foiled the abduction of a business tycoon who resides in the estate.
He said the corpse of the suspected kidnapper was taken away by the police.
When contacted, FCT Police Command Spokesperson, SP Adeh Josephine, confirmed the incident.
