Former Anambra Governorship Candidate George Moghalu Resigns from Labour Party

Former Labour Party governorship candidate in Anambra State, George Moghalu, has resigned from the party, bringing his association with it to an end.

Moghalu announced his decision in a formal resignation letter addressed to the chairman of his ward in Uruagu, Nnewi. In the letter, he stated that his resignation took immediate effect and conveyed his appreciation to party members for their support during his time in the party.

He thanked the Labour Party for granting him the platform to contest the Anambra governorship election and asked that his goodwill be extended to members at all levels. He signed the letter using his traditional title.

Before joining the Labour Party, Moghalu was a senior member of the All Progressives Congress, where he served as National Auditor. He had earlier resigned from the APC, citing personal considerations and the need for a more suitable platform to pursue his political ambition.

Moghalu later secured the Labour Party’s governorship ticket and contested the Anambra election but was defeated by the incumbent governor. Following the election, he rejected the outcome, alleging widespread irregularities and vote manipulation.

His resignation from the Labour Party comes months after the election, leaving uncertainty over his next political move.
