Nigeria and Brazil Advance Bilateral Air Agreement for Direct Flights
Nigeria and Brazil have revived their Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA), aiming to establish direct flight connections between the two nations. The agreement, which had been stalled for years due to bureaucratic challenges, is now being fast-tracked with the formation of a technical working group to finalize the details for official signing in the coming weeks.
The renewed commitment was solidified during a meeting between Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, at the ministry’s headquarters in Brasília.
Keyamo emphasized the strategic importance of the agreement, highlighting the economic and cultural ties between Nigeria and Brazil. He noted that the initiative would enhance trade, tourism, and connectivity between Africa and South America.
Beyond air travel, both ministers expressed interest in collaborating on aviation development, including knowledge exchange, technical training, infrastructure improvements, and investment opportunities.
