Senegal will appeal the decision to strip the country of its Africa Cup of Nations title, describing the ruling as unjust.

The Senegalese Football Federation confirmed it would take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.

“The Senegalese Football Federation condemns this unjust, unprecedented and unacceptable decision, which brings African football into disrepute,” the body said.

“To defend its rights and the interests of Senegalese football, the federation will, as soon as possible, file an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”

The ruling followed a protest by Senegalese players during the final, which led to sanctions by the Confederation of African Football.

Officials maintained that the appeal is aimed at ensuring proper application of competition rules and protecting the integrity of the game.
