JAMB Remits Over ₦1.5bn to CBT Centres for 2026 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has confirmed the remittance of ₦1,570,671,200 to Computer-Based Test centres across Nigeria. This payment covers the ₦700 registration charge collected from candidates on behalf of the centres during the 2026 registration process. By collecting this fee centrally and remitting it to the centres weekly, JAMB aims to eliminate the exploitation of candidates and ensure a strictly cashless registration environment.

To maintain transparency, the Board is enforcing a “No View, No Pay” policy. This system ensures that payments are only released to a centre after JAMB verifies that the candidate’s data is valid and visible in the national registration system. This measure is specifically designed to curb infractions and ensure that private and public facilities comply with official guidelines.

The 2026 UTME has seen a massive turnout with 2,243,816 candidates registered nationwide. Lagos leads the states with over 321,000 registrants, followed closely by Kaduna and the FCT. To accommodate this record volume, JAMB has expanded its infrastructure from 800 to 1,000 examination centres for this year’s exercise.

Financially, the Board is projecting an internally generated revenue of ₦23.8 billion for the year, which is a significant increase from its 2025 targets. From this revenue, approximately ₦6 billion will be remitted to the Federation Account as an operating surplus. With the main examination scheduled to run from April 16 to April 25, these logistical and financial preparations are intended to provide a more seamless experience for the millions of students.
