Natasha involved in fresh confrontation at Senate committee chairman’s office

A new confrontation unfolded at the National Assembly involving Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central, following a committee engagement earlier in the day.

According to sources within the legislature, the situation developed after a budget defence session of the Senate Committee on the North Central Development Commission had already ended before the senator arrived at the venue. On discovering that the session had concluded, she reportedly proceeded to the office of the committee chairman, Titus Zam, accompanied by members of her legislative team to seek clarification.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that tensions rose when she was allegedly denied access to the chairman’s office. The refusal reportedly triggered a heated exchange involving staff attached to the office and individuals in the senator’s entourage. During the confrontation, one of the aides accompanying the lawmaker was accused of physically engaging a staff member, prompting security personnel stationed at the National Assembly complex to step in.

Security officials eventually brought the situation under control, although the precise sequence of events that led to the clash remains unclear.

The latest incident adds to a string of recent disagreements involving the Kogi Central lawmaker during Senate activities. Earlier, she had been involved in a tense exchange during an interactive session with the Minister of Steel Development when the chairman of the Senate Committee on Steel Development, Patrick Ndubueze, attempted to bring proceedings to a close while she was still speaking. The move was described by the senator as disrespectful before she exited the session.
