Seattle Seahawks Clinch Super Bowl LX, Defeat Patriots 29-13

The Seattle Seahawks captured their second Vince Lombardi Trophy with a commanding 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday. The win was propelled by a dominant defensive performance and a record-breaking effort by kicker Jason Myers, who scored five field goals—the highest by a single player in Super Bowl history.

Quarterback Sam Darnold, previously criticised for struggling in high-stakes games, threw for over 200 yards and a touchdown, completing his journey from underperforming player to Super Bowl champion. “It’s incredible. Everything I’ve experienced in my career led to this moment, and winning with this team makes it even better,” Darnold said.

Running back Kenneth Walker rushed for 135 yards, earning Most Valuable Player honours. The Seahawks’ defence consistently pressured Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, sacking him six times and intercepting two passes. Maye’s attempt to become the youngest Super Bowl-winning starting quarterback at 23 fell short.

The first three quarters were low-scoring, with both teams relying on field goals. The action exploded in the fourth quarter with four touchdowns. Darnold connected with tight end AJ Barner for a 16-yard touchdown, while Maye threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Mack Hollins for New England’s first points. Shortly after, Uchenna Nwosu recovered a strip-sack and ran in a touchdown for Seattle, sealing the victory. Rhamondre Stevenson added a late touchdown for New England.

Pop icon Bad Bunny performed the half-time show entirely in Spanish, marking a first for the Super Bowl, with guest appearances from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. His performance, largely apolitical, added a vibrant break to the evening.

The stadium, with a 75,000-seat capacity, was dominated by Seahawks supporters, and the team’s early field goal helped settle initial nerves. Head coach Mike Macdonald, at 38, became the third-youngest coach to win a Super Bowl, accomplishing the feat in just his second year.
