APC Governors Review Congress Framework, E-Registration Drive in Abuja

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held a closed-door meeting in Abuja to deliberate on key internal party matters, including preparations for upcoming congresses, electronic membership registration, and the party’s national convention.

The meeting, convened under the Progressive Governors Forum and chaired by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, took place at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in the federal capital.

Governors present at the meeting included Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom.

Governors Dikko Radda of Katsina, Babagana Zulum of Borno, and Muhammad Yahaya of Gombe were unable to attend and were represented by their respective deputies.

The session was also attended by members of the party’s National Working Committee, led by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.

The meeting comes amid intensified consultations within the ruling party ahead of its national convention scheduled for March. Key discussions focused on the ongoing electronic registration exercise, as well as the conduct of ward, local government, state, zonal congresses, and the convention itself.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, Governor Uzodimma said the forum reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening internal democracy within the party. He described the e-registration initiative as a critical step toward building a credible, data-driven membership system.

According to a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the governors reviewed and endorsed the timetable and institutional framework earlier approved by the party’s National Executive Committee for the forthcoming congresses and national convention.

The forum also stressed the need for transparent and coordinated financial management in organising party activities, noting that accountability and fairness must be ensured across all states, including those not governed by the APC.

In addition, the governors reiterated their commitment to party unity and internal harmony, calling for responsible communication, collective discipline, and leadership conduct that would enhance public confidence in the party’s democratic processes.
