APC Leaders Meet at Osoba’s Home, Push for Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun Central Senatorial District convened on Monday to reinforce party cohesion and promote inclusive leadership as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.

The gathering took place at the residence of former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, marking the first official meeting of the senatorial district. Party officials emphasised the importance of solidarity and active member mobilisation to strengthen the APC’s position in the district.

The meeting was chaired by APC senatorial district chairman, Mr. Sunday Sowunmi, and attended by Senator Shuaib Salisu representing the district, House of Representatives member for Abeokuta South, Afolabi Afuape, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Daisi Elemide, former Speaker Tunji Egbetokun, former Nigerian Ambassador to the UK, Sarafadeen Tunji Ishola, former PDP state chairman Dr. Sikurulahi Ogundele, former senator Gbenga Obadara, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, as well as the six local government chairmen of the district led by ALGON chairman, Dr. Folasade Adeyemo.

Addressing journalists, Senator Salisu said the meeting aimed to mobilise support for the party, foster unity, and encourage membership growth through the ongoing e-registration exercise.

“This meeting was primarily about unity. It provided an opportunity to share feedback, strengthen cohesion, and energise the Ogun Central Caucus. I am impressed by the enthusiasm shown, particularly in relation to both INEC registration and APC membership enrolment,” he stated.

On the progress of e-registration, Salisu revealed that while no fixed membership target exists, notable achievements have been recorded. “In one local government area alone, over 15,000 members have registered within a week. If similar growth is replicated across the 20 local governments, the scale is remarkable. Our broader aim is to register at least 50–51 percent of all registered voters in the state,” he explained.

Salisu urged party members to remain united, continue registering with INEC, and enrol as APC members. “We should also support the President and the state government, whose reforms are now yielding visible results, while promoting inclusive leadership at all levels,” he added.

Sarafadeen Ishola underscored that unity is essential for the party’s continued success. “President Bola Tinubu has always emphasised inclusive leadership. Cohesion ensures smooth primaries, fosters a sense of belonging, and strengthens our electoral prospects. Ogun State has over 6,000 polling booths, and success depends on mutual support,” Ishola said.

Chairman Sowunmi encouraged members to serve the APC with integrity and dedication, stressing that the party’s strength lies in unity and grassroots mobilisation.
