APC Dismisses Speculation About Shettima’s 2027 Replacement

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has categorically rejected circulating rumors suggesting that Vice President Kashim Shettima could be replaced as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 general elections.

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka addressed the issue during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, describing the claims as “entirely mischievous and unfounded.” He emphasized that the party remains focused on governance and not on speculative election discussions.

“There is absolutely no truth to the stories suggesting a change in the Vice President’s position,” Morka said. “The Electoral Act prohibits premature election activities, and discussing replacements at this stage is inappropriate. The reports are purely designed to create confusion and discord.”

Morka also assured the public that the APC is committed to accommodating all Nigerians fairly within its structures. “Our party is inclusive. When the time is right, we have the mechanisms and expertise to handle ticket considerations in the best interest of the nation,” he added.

Despite these clarifications, speculation regarding Shettima’s potential replacement has persisted since mid-2025. Observers noted that his absence from certain APC endorsements in the North-East and omission from regional promotional banners contributed to the rumors.
