NDLEA Intercepts Ammunition, Arrests Couple and Other Suspects in Nationwide Drug Crackdown

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 380 rounds of military-grade ammunition on the Abuja–Kaduna highway and arrested multiple suspects in coordinated operations targeting drug trafficking and related crimes across Nigeria.

The ammunition was recovered on May 24, 2026, at Jere in Kaduna State from a 30-year-old suspect, Sunusi Musa, who was allegedly transporting 7.62mm rounds to Katsina State before being intercepted during a routine patrol.

The suspect and the recovered ammunition have been handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.

In a separate operation in Kaduna State, NDLEA operatives arrested a couple, Musa Sunday and Mercy Sunday, alongside another suspect, Salomi Ezekiel, after uncovering 100 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 1,246 kilograms hidden inside a residential building in the Gonin Gora area.

In Lagos State, officers discovered illicit drugs concealed inside imported water purifier machines shipped from the Netherlands. The seizure included three kilograms of ketamine and 199 grams of MDMA.

In Niger State, operatives raided a warehouse at Gidan Kukah in Bosso Local Government Area, recovering 457 kilograms of skunk and arresting one suspect during the operation.

In Enugu State, officers intercepted a commercial vehicle along the Onitsha–Enugu expressway, where 22,000 tramadol tablets, 100 ampoules of pentazocine, and 200 grams of bromazepam were recovered. One suspect, James Maigari Wisdom, was arrested.

NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), commended officers for the nationwide operations and urged sustained efforts in the fight against drug trafficking and illicit substance abuse across the country.
