Afenifere faults Tinubu administration over insecurity, hardship

Afenifere has criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that Nigeria has experienced worsening poverty, insecurity and economic hardship since he assumed office three years ago.

The group made its position known in a statement titled, “Tinubu’s Third Year Report: Summum Malum or Summum Bonum,” signed by its leader, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, and the organisation’s National Publicity Secretary, Prince Justice Faloye.

According to the group, the current administration has failed to improve the welfare and security of Nigerians, accusing the government of worsening unemployment, kidnappings and violent attacks across the country.

Afenifere said the “Renewed Hope” agenda introduced by the administration had instead resulted in deeper economic hardship, insecurity and public frustration.

The organisation stated that governance should provide citizens with security, prosperity and stability, stressing that many Nigerians currently live in fear due to increasing violence and economic difficulties.

The group also expressed concern over rising cases of kidnappings and killings in several parts of the country, including attacks on communities, students and teachers.

It blamed the situation partly on what it described as the government’s failure to restructure the nation’s security framework through the establishment of state and community policing.

Afenifere further alleged that insecurity has continued to spread across different regions of the country under successive administrations of the All Progressives Congress.

The group urged the government to take urgent steps to address insecurity and economic challenges facing Nigerians, warning that citizens are becoming increasingly frustrated with the state of the nation.
