Tinubu sweeps Lagos APC presidential primary

President Bola Tinubu on Saturday recorded a sweeping victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary held in Ward L2, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, polling 4,996 votes.

The president arrived at the polling centre in Ikoyi alongside First Lady Oluremi Tinubu amid tight security as party members gathered for the exercise.

Tinubu also emerged victorious at Ward D3 on Lagos Island, where Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu cast his vote. The president secured 1,887 votes at the ward.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, speaking after the exercise, commended APC members for the peaceful conduct of the primary and the massive turnout across the state.

He described the process as orderly and praised party loyalists for their continued support for the APC and President Tinubu.

Tinubu defeated businessman Sterlyn Osifo in the contest conducted through the APC’s direct primary system, which allows party members at ward level to participate in candidate selection.

The exercise at Ward L2, held at Ireti Nursery and Primary School on Queens Drive, Eti-Osa, witnessed heavy turnout from party supporters and APC leaders.

Among top party figures present were former Minister of Finance Wale Edun, Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, and party chieftain Kola Peregrino.

Announcing the result, the ward returning officer, Martha Adikwu, said Tinubu polled 4,996 votes from 5,163 registered voters.
