BREAKING: Amaechi arrives ADC presidential screening venue
Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has arrived at the venue of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential screening exercise in Abuja as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Amaechi arrived at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel on Wednesday, dressed in Niger Delta attire and accompanied by close political allies. His arrival marks a key moment in the party’s ongoing screening process for presidential aspirants.
The former Rivers State governor had earlier formally declared his intention to contest for Nigeria’s presidency under the ADC platform. He submitted his nomination forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja last week.
Speaking after submitting his forms, Amaechi insisted that his ambition is strictly for the presidency, stressing that he did not purchase the nomination form to serve as a running mate.
“I did not buy the form to become a vice presidential candidate,” he stated, reaffirming his commitment to the 2027 presidential race.
The ADC screening exercise is part of the party’s internal preparations to select its flag bearer ahead of the next general election cycle.
Amaechi’s arrival adds momentum to what is expected to be a competitive screening process involving several high-profile aspirants.
