Kwankwaso’s son dumps NNPP, set to join ADC

Mustapha Kwankwaso, son of former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, has resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and is set to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The former Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development announced his resignation in a statement on Monday, describing the move as deliberate and carefully thought out.

“I want to inform the general public that as of today, I have officially resigned my membership from the NNPP. This decision has not been taken lightly,” he said.

He added that he is already in the process of joining the ADC, expressing optimism about the party’s direction.

“My decision to join the ADC is driven by my conviction that it is best positioned to bring the desired change and progress to our country, Nigeria, and particularly to our state, Kano,” he stated.

Mustapha noted that the party offers a platform for achieving goals of good governance, economic prosperity, and improved welfare for citizens.

His resignation comes barely 24 hours after his father also exited the NNPP, as part of a broader political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
