The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has requested the Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss a ₦1 billion rights enforcement suit filed by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

El-Rufai filed the suit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Chief Magistrate Court of the FCT, the IGP, and the Attorney-General of the Federation, challenging a search of his Asokoro residence in Abuja.

In a counter-affidavit, the IGP stated that the search was carried out pursuant to a valid court warrant and accused El-Rufai of attempting to use the suit to hinder investigation and possible prosecution.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik adjourned the case to March 25, directing that hearing notices be issued to the absent respondents.
