Edo PDP Hails Court Validation of National Convention

The Edo State chapter of the PDP has welcomed an Oyo State High Court ruling that affirmed the legality of the party’s national convention held on November 15–16, 2025, calling it a victory for the will of party members.

According to the state PDP, the judgment reinforces that internal party disagreements must be resolved within constitutional frameworks, not through external interference or litigation fueled by elite interests.

The ruling by Justice Ladiran Akintola validated the convention that elected the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee, declaring the outcome binding on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) until a higher court rules otherwise.

In a statement, Edo PDP Publicity Secretary Dan Osa-Ogbegie described the judgment as both a legal and moral triumph. He said it exposed attempts by internal and external forces to destabilize the PDP, particularly highlighting those allegedly working with the APC while claiming PDP membership.

Osa-Ogbegie emphasized that the ruling reaffirmed the principle of party supremacy and constitutional order. “Democracy is not sustained by opportunists. It is sustained by those who respect institutions even when the outcome does not favor them,” he said.
