Abia Rep Dumps APGA, Set to Reveal New Party

The member representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Alexander Ikwechegh, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

In an undated handwritten letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of the party, Ikwechegh stated that his resignation takes effect immediately.

“I respectfully submit my resignation from my membership of the party, APGA, effective immediately,” he wrote.

The brief letter, written on his official House of Representatives letterhead, expressed gratitude to APGA for the platform and opportunities provided to him during his tenure.

“I appreciate the opportunity given to me to serve and contribute during my sojourn with the party. I wish the party continued progress and success in its future endeavours,” the letter partly read.

The letter did not specify the reasons for his resignation or reveal the party he intends to join. However, the development is expected to generate political reactions in Abia State, particularly in Aba, where he enjoys significant grassroots support.

When contacted about his motivations and the new party he plans to join, Ikwechegh said,

“You will soon find out. You will soon find out the new party I want to go to soon.”

Reacting to the development, APGA State Chairman Sunday Onukwubiri said he had not received the resignation letter and could not comment on reports circulating on social media. He, however, assured that APGA remains strong and united in Abia.

“It is unfortunate that some people discard the ladder they used to climb to prominence, but I can assure you that APGA will remain stronger and more united in Abia,” Onukwubiri said.

Ikwechegh was elected to the House of Representatives on the APGA platform and has been actively involved in legislative and constituency matters since assuming office. As of filing this report, APGA has not issued an official statement regarding his resignation.
