Judo Federation Applauds Disu’s Appointment as Acting IGP

The President of the Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr. Musa Oshodi, has commended the appointment of Tunji Disu as the Acting Inspector General of Police, describing the development as a strong affirmation of professionalism, competence, and integrity in national service. The elevation, according to Oshodi, reflects Disu’s distinguished record of service and leadership within the Nigeria Police Force as well as his broader contributions to national development.

Tunji Disu first gained widespread public attention in 2022 while serving as a Deputy Commissioner of Police when he won a silver medal at the 33rd US Open Judo Championship held in Brookline, Massachusetts. The championship featured over 500 veteran participants from different countries, and Disu’s performance brought notable acclaim to Nigeria in international sporting circles. Beyond his athletic achievement, Disu has been recognized for meritorious service in law enforcement, earning accolades for his professionalism, leadership skills, and commitment to public service.

Dr. Oshodi expressed pride that Disu also contributed to the Nigeria Judo Federation as a member of its immediate past board. He described the President’s decision to entrust the leadership of the police force to Disu as both reassuring and commendable, emphasizing that it signals confidence in appointing a career officer with a proven track record to a critical national office.
