Court Adjourns El-Rufai’s Arraignment Over Phone-Tapping Allegations
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has postponed the arraignment of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai to a later date after he failed to appear in court for the scheduled proceedings.
The case, brought by the Department of State Services, involves allegations linked to unlawful interception of communications following remarks the former governor reportedly made during a televised interview.
During the hearing, counsel for the security agency informed the court that El-Rufai remains in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, where he is being investigated over separate allegations involving financial misconduct.
In light of his absence, the judge adjourned the matter to allow for his formal arraignment on the new date fixed by the court.
The case is expected to proceed once the former governor is produced before the court to respond to the charges filed against him.
