The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has dismissed assertions that the Presidency pressured Governor Ademola Adeleke to defect to the ruling party.

The party was responding to comments credited to former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who suggested the governor faced political pressure and emotional distress over the alleged move.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, the APC said the claim contradicts known political developments in the state, insisting that the governor had previously explored joining the party but did not secure acceptance.

The party maintained that no credible evidence exists of coercion against any governor and challenged the Osun leader to name those allegedly mounting pressure on him.

It urged the public to disregard the claims, arguing that internal difficulties within opposition ranks should not be blamed on the APC.

The disagreement has revived speculation over possible political realignments ahead of the next governorship contest, with both parties positioning themselves for the coming electoral cycle.
