Electoral Act: Harmonisation Committee to Finalise Bill, Says Kalu

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu confirmed that the National Assembly’s Harmonisation Committee is meeting to reconcile differences in the Electoral Act between the Senate and House of Representatives.

Speaking on Channels Television, Kalu said the committee is working intensively to ensure timely resolution. He defended the Senate’s removal of the “real-time” clause in electronic results transmission, clarifying that voting remains manual while results are transmitted electronically. Kalu also refuted social media claims suggesting he opposed electronic transmission, noting that nearly all senators support it.
