Wike Backs Only Pro-Tinubu Candidates in FCT Council Poll
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has declared he will support only candidates aligned with President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming area council elections in Abuja.
He said his stance reflects his commitment to the President’s agenda, adding that he would oppose any aspirant who does not support the administration’s policies.
The electoral body has confirmed that more than one million voters are registered for the poll, which will decide leadership positions across the territory’s councils. Major political parties have fielded candidates, while security agencies say thousands of personnel will be deployed to maintain order.
A court ruling has also barred one political party from participating due to nomination irregularities, further shaping the electoral contest.
