Arteta Alarmed as Injury Problems Mount at Arsenal

Manager Mikel Arteta has expressed concern that the growing number of injuries at Arsenal could derail the club’s push for silverware across multiple competitions.

Although the Gunners progressed in the FA Cup with an emphatic home victory over Wigan Athletic, the win came at a cost as more players joined the treatment list.

Riccardo Calafiori was unable to take part after suffering an issue during the warm-up, while Ben White was forced off with a knock during the game. Captain Martin Odegaard was also absent after picking up an injury in the previous league outing against Brentford.

Elsewhere, Kai Havertz is expected to remain sidelined for several weeks, and Mikel Merino could miss the rest of the season following surgery.

Despite these setbacks, Arsenal continue to lead the Premier League, remain active in the UEFA Champions League, and are preparing for a domestic cup showdown with Manchester City.

Arteta acknowledged that injuries have now affected every section of the squad and stressed that having players return soon will be crucial to maintaining tactical depth during a demanding schedule.

The team now face a difficult run of fixtures, including a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers and the highly anticipated derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

The recent cup victory was effectively decided early, with goals from Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus, along with an own goal, putting the match beyond doubt within the opening stages.

Midfielder Eberechi Eze also impressed by contributing two assists, offering encouragement after a slow run of form since his move from Crystal Palace.

Arteta welcomed the display, noting that attacking players often rely on decisive contributions to build confidence and rhythm during the season.
