Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has called for a unified economic framework across the South-East, proposing the creation of a “South-East Common Market” to integrate commerce, talent, and industry. Speaking at the South-East Vision 2025 Regional Stakeholder Forum, the governor urged the five states to act collectively rather than independently, stressing that disjointed development limits growth potential.

“By fusing our five distinct economies into one powerhouse, we are no longer just negotiating for a seat at the table; we are building the table ourselves,” Mbah said. He highlighted the importance of coordinated logistics, transportation corridors, and security infrastructure to enable seamless interstate commerce and investment.

The governor also emphasized the South-East Vision 2050 framework as a blueprint to address structural challenges and unlock the region’s collective economic potential. Immediate steps, including joint feasibility studies and regional project preparation, were urged to translate vision into tangible outcomes.
