Kano Kwankwasiyya Movement Condemns Call for Deputy Governor’s Resignation

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has denounced calls for the resignation of Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, describing the move as provocative and politically motivated. The warning came in response to comments attributed to the state’s Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya.

In a statement, the movement’s spokesperson, Hon. Habibu Mailemo, said the demand undermines democratic principles and disregards the constitutional mandate of the Deputy Governor. Kwankwasiyya accused the government of sidelining loyal supporters of Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso and warned against attempts to remove the deputy governor, whose position is protected under the constitution.

The group emphasized the Deputy Governor and Governor Abba Yusuf’s election was a product of Kwankwasiyya’s collective political struggle in the 2019 and 2023 elections. The movement criticized the Commissioner for allegedly acting outside the party’s framework and called for respect of loyalty, history, and constitutional governance.

Kwankwasiyya insisted that any attempt to humiliate or forcefully remove members of the movement from government positions would be resisted. The statement highlighted the importance of gratitude and loyalty in governance, citing Islamic principles that leaders should acknowledge support and collective effort.

The movement’s response underscores ongoing political tensions in Kano State and the significance of maintaining party cohesion while respecting constitutional offices.
