PDP Governors Rebuke Fayose Over Attacks on Makinde–Tinubu Meeting

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum has criticised former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose over comments he made regarding a recent meeting between Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement, the forum described Fayose’s remarks as reckless and damaging, accusing him of undermining political decency and misrepresenting the nature of the meeting.

Makinde had met privately with the President to discuss governance-related issues, but Fayose alleged the meeting carried political undertones and questioned Makinde’s independence.

The governors’ forum dismissed the claims, insisting that the meeting was strictly about governance and national interest.

The group accused Fayose of engaging in repeated public outbursts in a bid to remain politically relevant, describing his conduct as harmful to Nigeria’s democratic culture.

It urged the Presidency to distance itself from what it described as unsolicited political attacks, warning that such behaviour fuels unnecessary tension and distracts from pressing governance challenges.

The forum reaffirmed its commitment to responsible opposition politics and called for greater maturity in political discourse across the country.
