Atiku Haske Group Expels Abba Atiku Over APC Defection Directive

The Atiku Haske Organisation has rejected a directive by Abba Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, urging members of the group to defect to the All Progressives Congress, declaring that he lacks the authority to determine its political direction.

The group also announced Abba’s expulsion, stating that he neither founded the organisation nor contributed financially to its operations.

Abba had earlier announced his defection to the APC and subsequently called on coordinators and members of his political structure to join the ruling party in support of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He also proposed renaming the group to the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation.

Reacting in a statement issued in Abuja, the initiator and convener of the Atiku Haske Organisation, Mai Nagge Bakari, said Abba was merely an invited member and had no legal or organisational authority to issue directives on behalf of the group.

Bakari stated that Abba neither funded the organisation’s activities nor held its registration documents, stressing that membership does not confer ownership or leadership.

According to him, the group had collectively resolved to move from the Peoples Democratic Party to the African Democratic Congress and had no intention of aligning with any other political party.

He described Abba’s action as a violation of the organisation’s resolutions, values and principles, declaring his directive invalid and announcing his immediate expulsion.

Bakari said the organisation remains committed to its political objectives and reaffirmed its support for Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambition under the ADC platform.

He added that Abba’s directive was null and void and challenged him to form his own political group if he wished to pursue a different political path.

Abba announced his defection at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, where he was received by senior APC figures from the North-East. He pledged support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid and cited confidence in the administration’s leadership and policies.

Following his defection, reports emerged that his political structure had been renamed to reflect alignment with the APC’s 2027 campaign. However, the Atiku Haske Organisation has distanced itself entirely from the move, insisting it remains independent of Abba’s political decisions.
