Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Welfare and Dignity of Nigeria’s Armed Forces

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare, dignity, and well-being of Nigeria’s armed forces, pledging continued support for personnel who defend the nation’s unity and sovereignty.

In a message marking the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration Day, the President said the country is pausing to honour the courage and sacrifices of men and women who laid down their lives in service to Nigeria. He noted that while the names of fallen heroes may not always be widely remembered, their bravery remains the foundation of the country’s peace and freedom.

Tinubu stressed that a nation that forgets its fallen defenders risks losing its sense of purpose, adding that Nigeria remains grateful and mindful of their sacrifices.

Addressing the families of fallen service members, including widows, children, and relatives, the President acknowledged the depth of their loss and said no words could adequately compensate for the sacrifices made. He assured them that the nation would never forget the honour and dedication with which their loved ones served.

The President also paid tribute to serving personnel across all branches of the armed forces, noting that officers and soldiers continue to shoulder immense responsibility, often operating far from home to protect Nigeria’s people and territorial integrity.

As Commander-in-Chief, Tinubu reaffirmed his resolve to uphold the welfare and dignity of the armed forces, stressing that national security depends on standing firmly behind those who defend the country. He concluded by offering prayers for fallen heroes, wishing them eternal rest.
