Ihedioha Enters ADC, Picks Up Membership Card

Former Imo State governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has officially become a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a new phase in his political journey.

Ihedioha completed his registration at the party’s Mbutu Ward in Aboh-Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, where he was issued a membership card bearing the number 001. The registration process was overseen by the ward’s secretary, Prince Obinna Opara, while the ward chairman, Chief Alex Ahamuefula, formally presented the card.

The event attracted a large gathering of party officials, community leaders and stakeholders, including the Mayor of Mbutu, Evangelist Dr. Obi Nwaigwe, and the chairman of Aboh-Mbaise Local Government Area, Hon. Jonathan Egbule.

Speaking after his registration, Ihedioha explained that his decision to join the ADC was carefully considered and rooted in his confidence in the party’s emphasis on accountability, principled leadership and service to the people. He noted that both Nigeria and Imo State require leadership that prioritises the public good and responds effectively to citizens’ needs.

According to him, registering at the ward level underscored his belief in grassroots engagement and inclusive politics.

Senior party figures present included the ADC National Vice Chairman for the South-East, Sir Bon Unachukwu; the party’s Deputy Diaspora Coordinator, Maigari Bello Kasimu; and Uko Nkole, Coordinator of the Nigerian Former Legislators Forum.

Sir Bon Unachukwu described Ihedioha’s entry into the party as a significant boost, noting that his experience and public service record would strengthen the ADC’s presence in the South-East and nationally.

The Imo State chairman of the ADC, Prof. James Okoroma, led members of the state executive committee to formally welcome the former governor, stating that his decision reinforced the party’s commitment to internal democracy and grassroots mobilisation.
