Tinubu’s Reform Drive Shows Resolve, Ruling Party Says
The ruling party has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as uncommon courage and determination in leading Nigeria through difficult but necessary reforms.
In an end-of-year assessment of the state of the nation, the party said the period under review marked a decisive turning point that required bold leadership and hard choices to confront long-standing economic and governance challenges.
According to the assessment, the administration deliberately chose to address decades of fiscal indiscipline, economic distortions, and governance weaknesses that previous governments had avoided. The reforms were described as deep and structural, aimed at dismantling entrenched interests and rent-seeking practices that thrived on national inefficiencies.
The party expressed concern that some political actors exploited the hardships associated with the reforms, portraying the country negatively for political advantage. It described such actions as unpatriotic, arguing that resistance to the reforms went beyond healthy dissent and became a calculated attempt to undermine national stability.
It noted that the challenges faced went beyond economic and security pressures, evolving into a broader test of national loyalty and collective responsibility. Despite what it termed organised resistance, the party said the country remained resilient due to firm leadership.
According to the statement, early signs of recovery were beginning to emerge across key sectors. These include progress in infrastructure delivery, intensified security interventions, reduced fiscal leakages, and early improvements in investor confidence.
The party attributed these gains to leadership that refused to yield to pressure, intimidation, or coordinated misinformation. It stressed that national rebuilding requires sacrifice, discipline, and commitment to the collective good, adding that Nigeria’s future cannot be shaped by those who benefit from instability.
The party urged citizens to embrace reform, responsibility, and patriotism, expressing confidence that the country would emerge stronger through perseverance and national unity.
