Osun 2026: Accord Party Alleges Plot to Destabilise Party as APC Denies Involvement

The Accord Party in Osun State has accused the ruling party of plotting to destabilise its internal process ahead of the 2026 governorship election by sponsoring a parallel primary.

In a statement, the Osun State Chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande, alleged that the plan was designed to sow confusion, disunity, and chaos within the party following the emergence of Governor Ademola Adeleke as its candidate.

He said the alleged move was aimed at undermining the growing popularity and public support the governor enjoys across the state since his declaration and affiliation with the Accord Party.

According to Akande, the ruling party is sponsoring one of its card-carrying members to pose as an Accord aspirant in a bid to trigger internal crisis and disrupt political stability in the state.

He stressed that the Accord Party is law-abiding and peace-loving, adding that only processes recognised by the party’s legitimate national leadership are valid.

Akande urged security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission, and other relevant authorities to be vigilant against what he described as an emerging plot to disrupt public peace, insisting that Osun State has moved beyond political instability.

Reacting to the allegation, the ruling party denied any involvement, saying it is not concerned with the internal affairs of other political parties.

Its Director of Media stated that the party is focused on marketing its own candidate and winning the governorship election, adding that it is unaware of any primary outside its own concluded process.

He said the party successfully conducted its primary and remains committed to pursuing victory through legitimate political engagement.
