Bauchi Police Command Appoints New Spokesperson

The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the appointment of Superintendent of Police Nafiu Habib as its new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), taking over from Chief Superintendent Ahmed Wakil. The handover took place at the command headquarters in Bauchi, where Habib officially assumed his duties.

Habib, a seasoned officer with more than 16 years of experience in operational, administrative, and strategic communication roles within the Nigeria Police Force, pledged to strengthen the relationship between the police and the public through transparent communication and community-oriented policing strategies. He assured residents of Bauchi State that he would uphold high standards of professionalism, accountability, and responsiveness in line with global best practices.

An alumnus of Bayero University, Kano, Habib holds a Master’s degree in Conflict and Security Studies, as well as a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Criminology and Security Studies from the National Open University of Nigeria. He is also a graduate of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, having completed the Cadet Inspector of Police Course 38/2009.

Throughout his career, Habib has served in multiple capacities across Nigeria. His previous roles include Police Public Relations Officer at the Nigeria Police Academy, Deputy PPRO of the Kaduna State Command, Managing Editor of the NPA News Bulletin in 2021 and 2022, and lecturer to cadet officers on professional ethics and misconduct. He has also worked in operational roles such as Desk Officer at the Public Complaint Bureau, Officer-in-Charge of the Research and Planning Department, Divisional Traffic Officer, Unit Commander of the No. 1 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Police in Kaduna, and Confidential Secretary in Imo State Command.

Habib is a Fellow of the Forensic Investigators’ Society of Nigeria and an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. He has participated in specialized courses in areas including United Nations Peacekeeping Operations, Crime Scene Management, Forensic Investigation, Humanitarian Law Enforcement Standards, Public Relations, and Leadership Training.
