A public law expert from Rivers State University, Professor Ritchard Wokocha, says Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other political figures who recently joined the All Progressives Congress have effectively aligned themselves with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking in an interview, Wokocha described the wave of defections as a political embrace of the President, noting that the governor and his supporters have chosen to work directly with the leadership at the centre by joining the ruling party.

According to him, although some key figures in the state still belong to other parties, their activities are now tied to a Federal Government led by the APC, creating a unified political direction in Rivers State. He explained that with the state’s political structure moving toward the ruling party, the actors involved are now taking guidance from a single leadership source.

Wokocha believes the development could usher in a new phase of calm in the state’s politics. He said the alignment may reduce the prolonged tension and confrontations that have characterised Rivers political affairs in recent months.

He added that with major stakeholders now operating under one political umbrella, the state may witness fewer conflicts and a more coordinated political environment.
