Emefiele Denies Links to Terrorism Financing
Former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has dismissed reports alleging that he is involved in financing terrorism, describing the claim as fabricated, malicious, and intended to smear his reputation.
Responding to the publication circulating online, Emefiele stated that the accusation was entirely false and crafted to mislead the public. He said that at no point in his public service or private life had he engaged in any activity related to terrorism or the funding of terrorism, nor has he ever been questioned or investigated over such allegations.
He clarified that he had no connection to the individual who granted the interview that was referenced in the report. Emefiele called on Nigerians to disregard the claim, urging the media to avoid sensationalism and verify facts before publication. He appealed for responsible journalism, stressing that terrorism is a national challenge that should not be trivialised.
