The Peoples Democratic Party, led by Kabiru Turaki, says it has not received any formal notice from Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke regarding his reported departure from the party.

Adeleke earlier announced that he was leaving the PDP, attributing his decision to the party’s prolonged internal disagreements. However, Turaki explained after a meeting of the National Working Committee in Abuja that the party only learned of the development through media reports, not through any official correspondence.

Turaki noted that Adeleke is constitutionally free to remain in the party or exit whenever he chooses, stressing that the choice lies entirely with the governor. He added that Adeleke’s name still appears on the list of aspirants seeking the PDP governorship ticket in Osun State until the party receives a direct, written notification of his resignation.

Turaki also acknowledged the circulation of a letter purportedly linked to the governor but maintained that the PDP would only act on a formal submission made through the appropriate channels.
