NYSC Warns Corps Members Against Misuse of Social Media
The National Youth Service Corps has cautioned Corps members against the negative use of social media, warning that any harmful or misleading post made by participants would attract sanctions from the Scheme.
NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, gave the warning while addressing the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps members at the Delta State Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku. He urged the new Corps members to use social media responsibly and to create content that promotes the image of the Scheme and Nigeria.
Nafiu also advised them to avoid unauthorised trips and to strictly comply with all camp and service rules. “Follow simple instructions, be obedient, go for your biometrics and go for your Community Development Service,” he said. He further encouraged them to respect the cultural values of their host communities and to avoid misrepresenting the NYSC at their places of primary assignment.
Earlier, the NYSC Delta State Coordinator, John Kwaghe, presented the camp situation report to the DG, disclosing that 2,101 Corps members—944 males and 1,157 females—were deployed to the state for the new batch. He added that camp activities had been running smoothly with full participation from both Corps members and officials, who he said had displayed a high level of discipline.
