Standard Chartered Deepens Support for Women’s Empowerment at WIMBIZ 2025

Standard Chartered Bank (Nigeria) Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing gender equality, leadership development, and economic inclusion for women through its continued partnership with the Women in Management, Business, and Public Service (WIMBIZ).

The bank, for the third consecutive year, served as a Gold Sponsor of the WIMBIZ Annual Conference — one of Africa’s largest gatherings of women professionals and entrepreneurs — which held in Lagos this week.

Now in its 24th edition, the conference, themed “Own. Walk. Nurture,” convened innovators, policymakers, and business leaders to discuss strategies for promoting women’s leadership, intergenerational collaboration, and sustainable growth.

Speaking on the partnership, Standard Chartered Nigeria said its involvement demonstrates a long-standing commitment to inclusive growth and the empowerment of women across sectors.

“Empowering women is not only the right thing to do — it is also smart economics,” said Olusiji Adeyinka, Executive Director, Compliance, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited, who represented the bank as a panelist during the session “Rethink, Reframe, Revitalize: The Power of Inter-Generational Collaboration.”

Adeyinka stressed the importance of leveraging the strengths of every generation to build a culture of collaboration rather than competition, adding that intergenerational teamwork is crucial to creating lasting impact in organizations and communities.

Standard Chartered noted that its collaboration with WIMBIZ reflects the bank’s purpose to drive commerce and prosperity through diversity and inclusion, a principle embedded in its global and local operations.

The bank’s commitment is also evident in initiatives such as the Futuremakers Women in Technology Incubator Programme, which supports female-led startups, and its Financial Literacy Programme, which equips young people with the knowledge to make informed financial decisions.
