Tinubu Nominates Bernard Doro as Minister, Seeks Senate Confirmation
by Deborah Oladapo
President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State for appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The President has transmitted a letter to the Senate requesting his screening and confirmation.
Dr. Doro’s nomination comes following the election of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July, which created a vacancy for Plateau State in the federal cabinet.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Doro brings over two decades of professional experience across clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community-focused programmes in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
He holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice, and an MBA with a specialization in technology-driven business strategy. He is also an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner, with frontline experience in the UK’s National Health Service, serving in urgent care centres, walk-in clinics, general practices, and hospital settings.
Beyond his medical and leadership roles, Doro has also led youth mentorship and social development initiatives in diaspora communities and within local networks in Nigeria.
The Presidency expressed confidence that his multidisciplinary background and community engagement experience will contribute to ongoing national development efforts, pending Senate approval.
The nomination was announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
