Reach Your Full Potential or Risk Regret, Tuchel Warns Rashford

England manager Thomas Tuchel has challenged forward Marcus Rashford to live up to his enormous potential or risk reflecting on a career of missed opportunities.

Tuchel described Rashford as one of the most gifted attackers of his generation but warned that talent without consistency often fades quickly in top-level football.

Speaking in an interview, the England boss praised the Barcelona loanee’s natural ability and eye for goal but stressed that the true measure of success lies in sustaining performance and discipline over time.

“He can be one of the best in the world because of his finishing and quality,” Tuchel said. “But potential is a dangerous word in elite sport. It only matters when it’s fulfilled.”

According to Tuchel, Rashford must focus on becoming more decisive in front of goal and more productive overall, whether starting or coming off the bench.

“He needs to keep pushing himself to the limit. The limit for him is very high — higher than for most players. This is not a question of talent; it’s about showing consistency and conviction,” he added.

Tuchel revealed that he regularly speaks with Rashford about maintaining motivation and focus, warning that without the right attitude, he could look back in a decade and regret not realising his potential.

Rashford, currently on loan at Barcelona from Manchester United, has scored three goals and registered four assists in ten matches for the Spanish side this season.

Since taking charge of the national team in March, Tuchel has included Rashford in nearly every squad. The only exceptions were the summer internationals against Senegal and Andorra, which he missed due to injury sustained during his loan spell with Aston Villa.
