Elon Musk has shattered financial records by becoming the first individual to amass a personal fortune of $500 billion, according to Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires index. The milestone was reached following a 4% surge in Tesla’s stock, adding over $9 billion to his wealth in a single day.

Tesla’s market capitalization is now nearing its all-time high, with Musk’s 12% stake valued at approximately $191 billion. His fortune also includes major holdings in SpaceX—valued at $400 billion—and xAI Holding, a merger of his AI startup and social media platform X, worth around $60 billion.

Musk’s rise has been meteoric: from $24.6 billion in 2020 to $400 billion by the end of 2024. If current trends persist, analysts predict he could become the world’s first trillionaire by the early 2030s. Despite the headlines, Musk has downplayed the significance of his net worth, focusing instead on innovation and impact.
