Osimhen Joins Galatasaray in €75m Deal, Shuns Serie A Return

Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has officially completed a permanent transfer from Napoli to Turkish champions Galatasaray in a deal valued at €75 million, which includes €5 million in performance-related bonuses. Galatasaray paid €40 million upfront, with the remaining €35 million scheduled for disbursement by the end of 2026.

Napoli secured a 10% sell-on clause, and the contract includes a unique clause preventing Osimhen from joining any Italian Serie A club for two years—breaching that would trigger a €150 million payment.

The Muhammad-era transfer was confirmed after extended negotiations, during which Napoli demanded full financial guarantees and rejected several installment-based offers. Finally, Galatasaray met the €75 million figure and arranged bank guarantees to satisfy Napoli’s conditions. Osimhen has signed a four-year deal reportedly worth €15 million net per season, plus €10 million in endorsement deals—making him one of the highest-earning footballers in Turkish history.

During his loan spell at Galatasaray in the 2024–25 season, Osimhen scored an impressive 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances, helping the club secure both the Turkish Super Lig title and Turkish Cup. He became a fan favorite at Rams Park, breaking Mario Jardel’s long-standing record for most goals in a single season by a foreign player in Turkey. Respected football insiders described the signing as a bold statement of Galatasaray’s ambition to assert itself on the European stage.

Despite lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia, Osimhen reportedly insisted on staying in Istanbul, citing his affinity with the club and its passionate supporters. He stated that Galatasaray “feels like home,” a sentiment echoed by fans who have welcomed him as a transformative figure in their squad.
