FG to Launch National Innovation Agency to Back Local Startups

The Federal Government has unveiled plans to establish a National Design and Development Agency to help Nigerian innovators refine ideas, secure funding, and reach broader markets.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made this known during a visit to Innov8 Hub in Abuja, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

He said the new agency would bridge the gap between local ideas and commercial success, helping Nigerian startups overcome the hurdles of support and market readiness.

Dr. Alausa urged inventors to patent their ideas and aggressively pursue market access, noting that even a fraction of successful innovations could transform millions of lives.

He commended Innov8 Hub for its support to inventors through training, prototyping, and incubation. The hub has expanded to 15 departments, incubated several startups, and created 7,000 jobs nationwide.
