Dele Momodu Declares Atiku as Preferred ADC Presidential Candidate for 2027

Dele Momodu, media mogul and former presidential aspirant, has declared former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as his preferred presidential candidate under the emerging opposition coalition adopting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform for the 2027 general election.

Speaking on a political programme, Momodu acknowledged his friendship with Labour Party’s Peter Obi but said Atiku remains his top choice due to his experience and political strength.

“My best choice is Atiku,” Momodu stated. “That is what I expect Obidients to say about Obi, and Amaechi’s supporters to say about Amaechi. Politics is a game of numbers, and right now, the northern region holds the most political discontent.”

The emerging coalition includes politicians like Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Nasir El-Rufai, Sule Lamido, Gabriel Suswam, and others, with former Senate President David Mark and ex-Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola named interim chairman and secretary of ADC, respectively.

However, critics have dismissed the coalition. Presidential spokesperson Daniel Bwala labeled it a gathering of “internally displaced politicians” and predicted its collapse within six months. The North Central Citizens Council (NCCC) also condemned the alliance, calling it a “coalition of confusion.”

Despite criticisms, the ADC maintains it represents Nigeria’s best political future ahead of the 2027 polls.
