PDP Warns Enugu Gov. Against Destabilizing Party

PDP South East Vice Chairman Issues stern warning to Enugu Gov. to desist from using Ali Odefa to Destabilize party, calls on stakeholders to embark on door to door sensitization campaign

The National Vice Chairman, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) South East zone Mr. Chidiebere Egwu has issued a stern warning against the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah to desist from using the factional Vice Chairman of the party from the zone, Ali Odefa from destabilizing the party Saying door to door sensitization campaign is the only way the party would regain power in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

This was contained in a press release issued to news men, Tuesday in Abakaliki the Ebonyi State capital by the special Adviser, media and publicity Ify Chijioke to the office of the National Vice Chairman People’s Democratic Party South East Zone.

He emphasized the need for unity, grassroots mobilization, and active engagement of all stakeholders as he called on party executives and faithful across the zone to embark on door-to-door sensitization campaigns and restore the PDP’s lost glory.

Egwu who visited Owerri, Imo State, where he interacted with the state chapter of the party said he would continue to strengthen ties across the region as part of his mission to reposition the PDP in the zone.

He informed that his visit to Abuja on May 19, 2025, where he met with key South East stakeholders of the PDP, including the National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, former Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, and other top-ranking South East party leaders was a success.

He expressed deep appreciation for the trust and support reposed in him and assured the stakeholders that he has hit the ground running adding he will not relent in his efforts to reposition the party.

Following the successful visit of the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South East Zone, Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu to Owerri, Imo State, where he was warmly welcomed by the state chapter of the party, the Vice Chairman has continued to strengthen ties across the region as part of his mission to reposition the PDP in the South East.

During the high-level stakeholders meeting, Egwu received a standing ovation from party leaders present. Senator Anyanwu, Dr. Ikpeazu, and several South East PDP executives lauded his commitment and energy, pledging their full support for his leadership. They urged him to remain steadfast and work toward rebuilding the PDP into a formidable political force within the zone and beyond.

“Ali Odefa is no longer a member of the PDP. His suspension and expulsion have been affirmed by competent courts of law. Anyone associating with him does so at their own risk and must be ready to bear the consequences”

“He reiterated his unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of the PDP South East, and pledged to work closely with the National Working Committee (NWC), under the leadership of Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, the national secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, as well as the PDP Reformation Committee chaired by former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki”
