Niger State Screens Candidates For National Fellows Programme

Niger state Government in collaboration with the World Health Organization(WHO), has inaugurated a seven man committee to select candidates and commence recruitment activities and make assessments for the National Health Fellows programme.

The committee consists
of Dr Suleiman Aliyu from WHO as Chairman and State Coordinator, Emir of Kontogora represented by Dr Ibrahim Alhaji Umar, Hon Umar Aminu Yandagi, Chairman Paikoro LGA, Dr Ibrahim Idris, Director Public Health, Ministry of Tertiary Health, Dr Junaidu Inuwa, Director Health Planning Research and Statistics, Niger State Ministry of Primary Health Care.

Others are Mallam Bello Danazumi, Provost, School of Health Technology Minna, Pharmacist Iliya Laban Danlami, Director Health Planning Research and Statistics, Ministry of Secondary and Tertiary Health.

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration introduced the National Health Program Initiative where young Nigerians would be selected as Fellows to be engaged across the 774 LGAs of the Country under the State-wide approach, aiming to develop a pipe-line of healthcare leaders through strategic capacity building, professional development, and a capstone field engagement for the Fellows.

A total of 75 candidates would be screened by the Committee from all the 25 LGAs during the exercise, with 3 persons per LGA, where 1 person would be finally selected to represent each LGA.
