Bauchi SEC Approves N7.8 Billion State Assembly Complex Reconstruction Contract

The Bauchi State Executive Council (SEC) has approved a memo for the Reconstruction and Renovation of the state Assembly complex, worth N7,803,000,000 billion.
State Commissioner, Ministry of Housing and Environment, Rt. Honourable Danlami Kawule made this known while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting on Wednesday.
“We have gotten ratification from the council on the memorandum for the renovation and reconstruction of Bauchi state House of Assembly complex”, the Commissioner disclosed.
He pointed out that the development came as a result of the idea brought forward to the SEC by Governor Bala Mohammed of the state.
“His Excellency came up with the idea in his tireless efforts to create conducive atmosphere for the entire members of the Bauchi state house of assembly in addition with the state assembly commission”, Rt. Hon Danlami Kawule explained.
The Commissioner stated that the renovation and reconstruction work on state assembly is a big component with offices of committee chairmen, Directors of Bauchi state assembly and befitting office for the speaker and his deputy.
He added that the proposed renovation and reconstruction will include building for the assembly’s commission.
According to him, Governor Bala Mohammed is doing a lot in terms of providing conducive working environment across all segments of the state and that, necessary tools are been provided to ensure every public servant discharges his or her own responsibility effectively.
“It is about contract of Seven Billion, Eight Hundred and Three Million Naira and some other Kobos, which I believe is captured in the document, and is available for everybody to see”, the Commissioner said.
Rt. Hon Kawule who stated that all the due processes were followed in procuring the contract, explained that a certification has been received by his ministry directing 50 percent payment to the contractor.
He disclosed that the project is expected to be completed within one and half year.
The Commissioner said that the Governor has directed the ministry to carry out supervision on the ongoing projects to ensure that they are timely completed and actualized.
“We are going to draw a roadmap for the implementation of His Excellency’s directive. We will sit down with all the relevant directors and step down the Governor’s directive to ensure that Governor’s directive is carried out”, he said.
Throwing more light on the renovation and reconstruction of the state assembly complex, State Commissioner for information, Hon Shehu Usman Shehu, said the Governor has secured a temporary place for the lawmakers to be sitting pending the completion of the work.
“It’s going to be a total transformation of the whole assembly complex, it’s not just about minor works but completely”, he said.
The information Commissioner said that issue of digitization of the state own Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC) and Bauchi Television (BATV) was discussed.
According to him, equipments have already arrived with some already fixed, saying that the Governor emphasized that the digitization has to be done urgently.
“We discussed about how to see that the contractor get all that is needed. This has been done and I assure you that very soon we will invite all if you for the commissioning” he said.
