Oborevwori Charges Political Appointees to Champion Whistle Blowing Policy on Poorly Executed Projects

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged political appointees in the state to actively promote the whistle-blowing policy of his administration by reporting poorly executed projects in their localities for swift intervention.

The Governor made this call on Wednesday during the swearing-in ceremony of Senator Ighoyota Amori as his Chief Adviser at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.

Oborevwori stressed the importance of political appointees taking the lead in ensuring the proper execution of government projects and holding contractors accountable.

He revealed plans to establish a hotline where residents can report cases of sub-standard jobs by contractors directly to his office.

The Governor explained that video evidence and detailed reports would assist in blacklisting erring contractors, preventing project abandonment, and ensuring that contracts are executed in line with agreed terms.

“This initiative will help government ensure that it gets full value for the money spent on projects,” Oborevwori said. “Political appointees must monitor projects in their localities and provide timely feedback to the government. Governance is all about teamwork, and all hands must be on deck to achieve our goal of giving our people the best.”

Governor Oborevwori also emphasized the achievements of his administration over the past 19 months, noting that the state’s progress had been recognized globally.

He called for the continuation of fiscal discipline, infrastructural renewal, and youth development to sustain the momentum of growth and ensure the economic prosperity of Delta State.

“Our administration is committed to keeping our expenditure within revenue limits and ensuring the judicious allocation of resources,” he said. “We will continue to stimulate the growth of small and medium enterprises, which are critical to sustainable development.”

Congratulating Senator Ighoyota Amori on his appointment, Governor Oborevwori praised his extensive contributions to the development of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and the nation.

The Governor expressed confidence in Amori’s ability to provide sound advice on policy formulation and implementation, particularly in advancing Delta State under the MORE Agenda.

Amori, in his response, expressed gratitude for the appointment and vowed to use his knowledge and experience to help advance the state’s development in all sectors.

He called on Deltans to continue supporting the Governor’s drive for sustainable socio-economic and infrastructural development.

Governor Oborevwori further reminded political appointees of their duty to be ambassadors of the administration, urging them to adhere to the core values of the MORE Agenda: innovation, excellence, service, transparency, accountability, opportunity, and unity.

He also encouraged constant engagement with communities to ensure that government policies are tailored to meet the people’s needs.

“We are committed to bringing the dividends of democracy to the grassroots,” the Governor affirmed. “Your performance will be closely monitored and assessed in line with your effectiveness in serving the people.”
