Omo-Agege Accuses Delta Gov. Oborevwori of Mismanaging State Funds, Calls for Accountability

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy President of the 9th Senate and former governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, has accused the Delta State government of mismanaging state funds, alleging that money meant for development was instead being used to service questionable loans.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting with APC leaders, elders, and members in Obiaruku, Kwale, Ukwuani, and Ndokwa West Local Government Areas, Omo-Agege expressed concern over the current state of governance in Delta, especially in light of the state’s rising revenue following the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate.

Omo-Agege criticized the handling of the increased funds, claiming that the Delta State government, under the leadership of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, had failed to use the resources for the state’s development.

He emphasized that, despite receiving over N1 trillion from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) and Internal Generated Revenue (IGR), the state government had not delivered the expected progress, prioritizing debt repayment and supporting party structures instead.

“Despite receiving over N1 trillion from FAAC and IGR, the Delta State government and local government area councils have failed to develop the state,” Omo-Agege said. “Instead, they prioritize debt repayment, cater to godfathers, and oil party structures.”

Omo-Agege urged the people of Ndokwa, and by extension the entire state, to demand accountability from their government regarding oil revenue and other resources. He promised that if the APC were victorious in the 2027 elections, a new era of governance would begin in Delta State, focusing on prosperity, transparency, and accountability.

“We must put an end to this wasteful governance and enthrone a progressive government that would build a brighter future for Delta State,” he stated. “A win for the APC in 2027 would signal a new era of prosperity, transparency, and accountability. It would mean better infrastructure, improved healthcare and education, and economic opportunities for all.”

Omo-Agege also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting the significant achievements already recorded under the plan, such as higher revenue for states and local governments, improved economic growth, declining imports, and higher exports.

He called for continued support for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election to sustain the country’s economic transformation.

“The agenda has already yielded significant gains, including higher revenue for states and local governments, better economic growth rates, declining imports, higher exports, and higher income for farmers. To sustain this momentum and ensure the long-term growth and development of our country, it’s crucial we reelect President Tinubu in 2027,” Omo-Agege said.

Several APC leaders, including Barr. David Ochonogor, Chief Dele Omenogor, Chief Johnson Opone, and Prof. Ogwezi Chuks, expressed their support for Omo-Agege’s political ambitions.

They praised his contributions to the Ndokwa Nation, particularly the establishment of the Federal University of Medical Sciences in Kwale, and pledged to back his candidacy in the 2027 elections.

As Omo-Agege sets his sights on the 2027 elections, the APC in Delta State is rallying behind his vision for a government that prioritizes transparency, development, and accountability.
