Oborevwori Wins 2024 “Governor Of The Year” Award For Fiscal Discipline, Infrastructure Development

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, was honored with the “Governor of the Year, 2024” award by ThisDay Newspaper and Arise Television on Monday night for his exceptional fiscal discipline and commitment to infrastructural development in the state.

The award, announced by Prince Nduka Obaigbena, the Founder of THISDAY and ARISE Media Group, recognized Governor Oborevwori’s remarkable leadership. In his 18 months in office, the governor has not taken a loan from any bank and has continuously worked on building key infrastructure across Delta State, despite challenging economic conditions.

Presenting the award at a prestigious event held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, congratulated Governor Oborevwori on his outstanding achievements, describing him as an exemplary leader with notable positive impacts on his state.

While receiving the award, Governor Oborevwori dedicated it to God and the people of Delta State, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support. “This award is a recognition of our modest efforts in advancing Delta through our MORE Agenda,” he stated.

He added, “This award will spur me to do more for Deltans in the years ahead. We are in touch with the grassroots, building both infrastructure and the capacity of our people. We are investing in sectors like agriculture to strengthen our economy and improve livelihoods.”

Governor Oborevwori, who shared the honor with fellow governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Umo Eno of Akwa-Ibom, and Uba Sani of Kaduna, emphasized that his administration would continue to work tirelessly towards creating a more peaceful and resilient economy in Delta State as 2025 unfolds.

He concluded, “As we move forward, we remain committed to the development of Delta State and the prosperity of its people. God bless Delta and Nigeria as we continue to work in unity and harmony.”
